Bubble Guppies!!

I was so excited when my friend asked me to do this cake. My kids LOVE this show and I was ready for a challenge :)

It was vanilla cake with chocolate pudding and was super delicious (I had some!). The cake is frosted in buttercream and the 'sand' is brown sugar. All the Bubble Guppies are hand cut out of fondant and I painted the faces on with food coloring. I really liked this cake and so did the birthday girls :)

Cat in the Hat

This is the first sculpted cake I attempted. The hat part is cake and the fish bowl is rice cereal. The fish is all fondant and then I used edible marker for details.
Here's a picture I took, but I forgot to take a picture of the cupcakes that went along.

Luckily, here's a picture my client took WITH the cupcakes :) They're purple cause they're suppose to look like the ones in the movie!

1st Birthday Cakes

I absolutely love kids birthday parties. Especially 1st birthdays. They are my favorite. This week I was lucky enough to be booked for TWO 1st birthday parties.
Here's one of the cakes I did. This was a BIG cake. Its a three tier (8", 10", 12") and feeds about 88-118 people. I made it out of chocolate and strawberry filling. Its frosted in hot pink buttercream and then I added zebra frosting sheets to the middle tier, and did hand painted zebra tiaras, bow and #1 out of fondant.  I also did a matching smash cake, but forgot to take a picture (boo).
This cake I did for a friend. Its a 2 tier (8", 10"). I did the top tier out of carrot cake and cream cheese filling and the bottom tier red velvet and cream cheese filling. I frosted it all in buttercream and did gumpaste flowers, butterflies and the #1. I absolutely LOVE this cake. I always work so much better when I'm given free rein :) OOh, plus I was invited to the party so I actually got to eat some (bonus)!

Kids Birthday Cakes

Here are a few kids birthday cakes I did early on.

I did this Spiderman cake for my friend Annabel's son's birthday party last June. I used piping gel on wax paper to outline a coloring page and then transferred it to the cake. I then tinted more piping gel and filled it in. I learned that I dont like doing designs like this, lol.

I did this cake for a client. It turned out very nice but imagine painstakingly piping all those individual stars! Needless to say my hand hurt :)

After that I got another request for a Toy Story cake. This one was for 2 sisters having a joint birthday party. I learned from the Buzz cake and did cut out fondant decorations for this one and just piped details to clean it all up. This is one of my favorites and my client LOVED it :)
