Baby Shower Cakes

Here are some cakes I've done for babyshowers.

This cake I made for my friend Karina's coworkers babyshower. I had been experimenting with cake flavors and had taken her a piece of my banana cake recipe a couple weeks before which she loved and requested for the shower. Turned out to be a good move because from that cake I got several orders from those in attendance and made banana cake one of my two specialties!

I made a 10" round and did cream cheese frosting for filling and frosting. I used fondant for all the decorations.

This is one of the cakes that came from that. Again it was banana cake with cream cheese frosting. I was given free rein on this cake so I did some googling and combined with my ideas this is what I came up with. I did buttercream for frosting and stabilized whipped cream for the clouds. The stars and moon were made out of a 50/50 gum paste & fondant mixture. Then I wrote "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star . . . Soon we'll find out who you are". This is one of my favorite cakes :)

The next babyshower cake I did was for my friends Annabel's friends shower. Again I was given free rein :) This is my husband's favorite cake, he always tells people how the teddy bear is solid chocolate. He was so amazed that I could do something like that, lol. I can't remember exactly, but I think the bottom layer was chocolate with buttercream and the top was yellow cake with buttercream. It was frosted in buttercream and the dots were chocolate buttercream. The blocks were rice cereal coated with fondant and piped with buttercream. I wonder who got to eat the chocolate teddy bear . . . ?
