Bubble Guppies!!

I was so excited when my friend asked me to do this cake. My kids LOVE this show and I was ready for a challenge :)

It was vanilla cake with chocolate pudding and was super delicious (I had some!). The cake is frosted in buttercream and the 'sand' is brown sugar. All the Bubble Guppies are hand cut out of fondant and I painted the faces on with food coloring. I really liked this cake and so did the birthday girls :)

Catching Up!

Here are some cakes I've done in the past I keep forgetting to post.

This one is a vanilla cake with cream cheese filling and fondant decorations. It was a super last minute cake for a repeat client :)

This one was done for a friend's kid, who sadly never got it :( No worries, my kids enjoyed it!!

This cake was for the winner of June's cake giveaway :)

These are mini cupcakes I did for my daughter's 3rd birthday, a looong time ago. I completely ran out of time and only had time to pull off the cupcakes, she still reminds me she didnt get a super awesome cake :)

This was a cake I did way back when I still thought I had to make individual cakes for each tasting! I think this was actually the first tasting I had . . .

This cake I pulled off in like 2 hours I think, or something crazy like that. I was looking for clothes for my kids on CL when I saw this post for someone that was asking for used toys for a little girls birthday party because there was an unexpected cost and all the money for the party had been used. I didn't have any toys, but felt really touched with the courage of that mother so I called her up and offered a cake. A few hours later, there she was on my doorstep elated with the cake!

This one was a small anniversary cake for a friend. Its vanilla cranberry with cranberry filling.

This was a smash cake for a friend's kid. I think it was chocolate with buttercream frosting and I handmade the Elmo and #1 out of modeling chocolate and the decorations are all fondant.

July

It's been exactly 30 days since my last blog. I've been sooooo incredibly busy. Here's what I've been up to cake wise in July.

Cat in the Hat cupcakes.

Princess cake for one of the most adorable little girls I've ever seen. I did the smash cake out of chocolate and the 2 tier cake out of marble and chocolate ganache for one tier and chocolate with cream cheese and strawberry filling for the other.  The cakes were covered in fondant and all the decorations were made out of fondant / gumpaste. It turned out super cute!

This is a yellow cake with buttercream filling for a baby shower. Its decorated entirely in buttercream because the client is not a fan of fondant, and who can blame her?! The taste isn't that great but you can do oh so many pretty things with it :)

Here are some super duper adorable fondant covered Hello Kitty cupcakes.

This is one of my favorite cakes. I made the peacock entirely out of fondant and wire for stability and made it a few days to allow to dry hard. The cake itself it just plain ol' chocolate with chocolate buttercream and frosted in white buttercream with a pearl border. No need to do anything fancy with this beautiful peacock on top, lol!

This cake is a 3 tier Buzz Lightyear / Alien cake. It took me forever to hand make all the aliens and fondant decorations, but I was super happy with how it came it out. But this cake almost made me give up doing cakes. I was depressed and super embarrased about it for like a day and a half and then I got over it. Bottom tier is yellow cake with buttercream, middle is chocolate with strawberry filling and top is red velvet with cream cheese. So anyhow, one hour after pick up, mind you it was a very humid day and the cake left my place intact, I get a call that the cake somehow fell apart and the client is super dissappointed. Nothing is worse than a disgruntled client and they can do wonders to discredit all your hard work so I cheerfully offered to refund all $120 back. I still cannot understand how it is that the cake fell apart with all the wooden support in it. Its not my first cake and it was pretty solid. Other than it being humid, I am baffled as to what happened. But in all my years of customer service, the one thing I've learned is that the customer is always right! C'est la vie!

Moving on . . . this next cake is the best cake ever! I say that because it's my birthday cake. Yes, I know how silly it is that I made my OWN cake but that just how I am!

Its a 2 tier cake, the bottom tier is carrot with cream cheese and the top tier is pink velvet with lemon filling. I covered it in fondant and added gold sugar balls. The flowers are handmade out of gumpaste. I absolutely LOVE how it came out and it tasted really good too.

And with that I say, Welcome August! Can't wait to work on some very exciting cakes I have coming up. Look for my Justin Bieber cake and and a Tiffany and Co. inspired wedding cupcake tower coming soon!! Enjoy the rest of your summer <3
